Moria Aicher

Assistant Training Director

Moria Aicher has been a trainer with Garvin’s Pet Training Center for the past 14 years.

Her journey to becoming a professional dog trainer began in 1996 with her dog Toma.  She researched different dog trainers in Tucson, and decided to meet with Karyn Garvin. Moria began as a client doing private lessons. Tragically, Toma was killed by a car the day before graduating from school.  Karyn honored the training agreement, and two years later a new 8-week-old puppy named Bailey continued lessons with Karyn and completed their training.  And thus began Moria’s love of dogs and the truly joyful relationship that a canine companion can share with an owner.

During that time Karyn became a mentor and friend, and soon Moria joined her staff and training center.

Retiring from teaching after 23 years in the Oracle School District, Moria began a new career as a professional dog trainer and behaviorist.  She brought her teaching knowledge as well as a background in counseling as she took this leap of faith.  Karyn took her under her wing, sharing her knowledge, training skills and love of dogs.  Moria completed her canine obedience certification thru Penn Foster University, and her field work under Karyn Garvin’s supervision.  She is now a certified dog trainer and a professional member of the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors and the International Association of Canine Professionals.  As a part of her continuing education, she attends yearly conferences and seminars.

Her training has continued to grow over the years, as she searches to become a complete dog trainer as well as a wonderful human being.  Realizing that working with dogs and their owners had to incorporate physical, emotional and spiritual aspects, Moria wanted to find out how to achieve a calm balance.  Her prayers were answered when her sister introduced her to the passion of Reiki.

Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique that uses hands on healing to help balance the energy in any living thing.  Moria studied for six years with Reiki Masters and completed her Usui and Karuna Masters training.

Incorporating Reiki energy into her personal life as well as into her professional career continues to amaze her with the changes and love that transpire between the clients and the animals.

Her canine family has taught many lessons in Moria’s life.  Toma reminded her that life is short and to make the most of every moment.  Bailey, who died in July 2011, taught that sometimes you cannot control everything and that there is not a magic pill to fix things.  Mirage, 13 years old, continues to be a help every day by calming frightened dogs at work and being a Therapy Dog in hospitals.

With Mirage getting older, and a hole still left in her heart from when Bailey made her transition, Moria welcomed a new bundle of joy into her life on August 11, 2011.  She is now the proud owner of Zuri, a Braque du Bourbonnais.  Zuri and Moria are taking a new journey of love, compassion and knowledge.

Each day as Moria steps through the facility door, there is a confidence, joy and smile on her face.  She knows that a new partnership of canines and owners will continue to grow.
